Abstract

The advent of new media has significantly transformed the landscape of religious discourse among Muslim youth worldwide. This study examines how digital platforms—including social media networks, online forums, podcasts, and video-sharing websites—affect the understanding, interpretation, and practice of Islam among young adherents. The research highlights the dual role of new media as both a facilitator of knowledge dissemination and a potential source of misinterpretation or extremist narratives. Through a mixed-methods approach combining surveys, content analysis, and interviews, the study investigates the patterns of engagement, trust in digital religious authorities, and the impact of online religious content on personal beliefs and communal behavior. Findings indicate that while new media offers unprecedented access to diverse religious perspectives, it also challenges traditional religious authority and encourages personalized interpretations of Islamic teachings. The study emphasizes the need for media literacy, critical engagement, and responsible online religious guidance to ensure that digital tools contribute positively to the spiritual and ethical development of Muslim youth.
