Approaches and Insights from Modern Exegesis

Abstract

The Qur’an, as the primary source of guidance for Muslims, contains universal principles that address moral, social, and ethical dimensions of human life. The thematic (or topical) interpretation of the Qur’an allows scholars and practitioners to extract solutions for contemporary human challenges by focusing on specific subjects rather than sequential verses. This study explores the methodology and significance of thematic exegesis in resolving issues such as social justice, human rights, environmental ethics, gender relations, and technological impacts on society. By analyzing classical and modern tarsi literature, the research demonstrates how principles derived from the Qur’an can be applied to global and local problems, offering ethical frameworks and practical guidelines for contemporary life. Moreover, this approach bridges traditional Islamic scholarship with modern social sciences, facilitating dialogue between religious knowledge and current human concerns. The findings underscore the Qur’an’s enduring relevance and highlight the potential of thematic interpretation as a tool for promoting peace, justice, and moral responsibility in the modern world.
