Abstract

Interfaith dialogue has emerged as a critical mechanism for fostering mutual understanding, tolerance, and global peace in an increasingly interconnected and religiously diverse world. This study explores the conceptual foundations, theoretical frameworks, practical applications, challenges, and strategic approaches of interfaith dialogue, highlighting its essential role in promoting social cohesion and conflict resolution. The research defines interfaith dialogue as a structured and sustained process of communication among followers of different religions, aimed at enhancing mutual respect, reducing prejudices, and encouraging collaborative efforts toward common societal goals. The study emphasizes that dialogue is not limited to the exchange of theological ideas but extends to cultural, ethical, and social dimensions, thereby creating a comprehensive platform for understanding diversity. Drawing upon religious, philosophical, and socio-cultural theories, the study examines how interfaith dialogue can be effectively implemented, focusing on the importance of education, community engagement, and institutional support. It reviews successful historical and contemporary examples, such as interfaith interactions in medieval Andalusia and modern initiatives by global religious organizations, illustrating how structured dialogue fosters cooperation and peaceful coexistence. Despite its benefits, interfaith dialogue faces significant challenges, including religious intolerance, sectarian conflicts, misinterpretation of sacred texts, and political exploitation of religion. The study provides evidence-based strategies to overcome these obstacles, such as integrating dialogue concepts into educational curricula, leveraging digital media to promote tolerance, and establishing local and international platforms for sustained interaction. Furthermore, the study highlights the broader impact of interfaith dialogue on global peace and sustainable development. By fostering trust, collaboration, and shared ethical values, dialogue contributes to stronger civil societies, inclusive communities, and long-term stability. The research concludes that interfaith dialogue is not merely an academic or symbolic exercise but a practical and strategic approach for achieving peace, justice, and human solidarity worldwide.
