Religious harmony is an essential element for the development, stability, and peace of a pluralistic society like Pakistan, where multiple religious groups coexist. Islamic teachings emphasize tolerance, justice, compassion, and peaceful coexistence, which provide a strong foundation for fostering interfaith dialogue and societal integration. The Qur’an and Sunni highlight principles of respect for diversity, recognition of human dignity, and the importance of maintaining peace in social relations. In the Pakistani context, religious harmony becomes even more significant due to the diverse ethnic and religious backgrounds that shape the nation’s social fabric. However, sectarianism, radical narratives, and misinterpretation of religious doctrines have sometimes created hurdles in achieving sustainable harmony. This study explores the role of Islamic teachings in addressing these challenges by promoting mutual respect, dialogue, and social justice. It also analyzes the contribution of educational institutions, religious leaders, and state policies in applying Islamic principles to ensure peace and inclusivity. The findings underscore that aligning national policies with Islamic ethical teachings can help in eradicating intolerance, reducing sectarian conflicts, and building a more harmonious Pakistani society.
