Abstract

Sufism, with its deep-rooted teachings of love, compassion, peace, and tolerance, has played a vital role in shaping Pakistani society. These teachings are not merely spiritual doctrines but also serve as practical guidelines for addressing social challenges such as extremism, sectarian violence, and intolerance. Historically, Sufi saints in South Asia acted as agents of harmony who united people of diverse ethnicities, languages, and religions under a shared vision of human dignity and divine love. In the context of contemporary Pakistan, where polarization and social fragmentation have increased, Sufi values provide a path toward coexistence, respect for diversity, and resolution of conflicts. By promoting dialogue, mutual respect, and ethical practices, Sufi traditions encourage a balanced society that rejects violence and embraces tolerance. This paper examines the relevance of Sufi teachings in the modern Pakistani context, highlighting their role in strengthening communal harmony and promoting peace as a societal necessity.
